Scene 1

25th Century of Planet Earth: Upon arriving at her department, the historian welcomed everyone. She explained that the twentieth century was known as a time of “The Book” because there were books on almost every subject. He also told the audience that in 2040, Martians were supposed to invade the planet, but that invasion never took place. She then turned her historiscope and showed the audience the year 2040 in order to tell the audience about the failure of the invasion.

Mars Space Control 2040: Think-Tank who is the commander-in-chief. He has a huge, egg-shaped head. He wears a long robe decorated with stars and circles. His deputy, Noodle, stands next to him at a switchboard. A manned spacecraft has already been sent by Think-Tank to the Earth. The purpose of their mission is to gather information about the defence system on earth and provide it to another spacecraft from Mars that is preparing to attack the earth shortly.

Scene 2

During the mission to the planet Earth, Think-Tank wants Noodle to communicate with their manned space probe. Noodle establishes his contact with Mars Space Control after Think-Tank says they are taking it over soon. Captain Omega and his deputies are in a library. They have landed on this planet to gather secrets about the earth rebellion. For the first time, they have seen the books and the library.

Iota tells Think-Tank that there are over a thousand odd things there. It seems as if the place must be some storage barn. Sergeant Oop says he has never seen anything like it before. In order to find out what Omega should do, Think-Tank looks at the ‘books’ through his remote camera. He calls them ‘eatables’ and says that they are at a refreshment stand. He says that what they have in their hands is a sandwich. They are the main food of the Earth diet.

To confirm, Think-Tank orders Omega to eat the book. Omega orders Lieutenant Iota to eat it, and Lieutenant Iota orders Sergeant Oop to eat it. Sergeant Oop bites a corner of the book and pretends to chew. He tells Think-Tank that the book is not delicious. He wondered how Earthlings could eat such a dry thing without water.

After some time Noodle informs Think-Tank that a piece of data floated into his mind. He has discovered that the people of the earth do not eat them, but rather use them as communication devices. Think-Tank also believes what he tells him. He orders Omega to listen to books. He puts a book to his ears and tries to listen hard. It is asked by Think-Tank if Omega would like to hear anything from them. Omega replies that they may not be on the correct frequency.

According to Think-Tank, the Earthlings may have sharper ears. Noodle says he has a piece of information on his mind. The Earthlings opened them and watched them. Now Think-Tank says that those ‘sandwiches’ are to communicate with them through the eyes. He asks Captain Omega to examine three ‘sandwiches’ and share his findings.

Think-Tank instructed the Captain to select a colourful sandwich and give him some feedback on it. Omega picked up a nursery rhyme book titled Mother Goose. Iota and Oop hovered over Omega’s shoulder to peer at the big ‘sandwich’. The Captain, however, was unable to figure out the code written in it, so he sought advice from Think-Tank once more. Noodle advised the crew members to consume their intelligence-enhancing vitamins in order to comprehend the code intelligently. Following him, the members understood the code. The Captain read the rhyme “Mistress Mary… quite contrary.” Hearing it, Oop laughed, but Think-Tank shunned him.

According to Think-Tank, the rhyme meant that the Earthlings had discovered to combine the agriculture and mining and were able to grow crops of metal like silver. They also grow explosives. Noodle says that the invasion spacecraft are ready to attack. Noodle is told by Think-Tank to tell the invasion fleet to hold off. Think-Tank feels that the people of the earth are very brave and intelligent.

Think-Tank then interpreted the second rhyme, “Hey Diddle Diddle….the cat and the fiddle”, which terrified him because he thought that the Earthlings had trained their domestic animals in ‘musical culture’ and ‘space technique’. At that moment, the ‘interplanetary’ assault might be launched. The third rhyme, “Humpty Dumpty,” petrified Think-Tank when he misread the large egg as himself. Because Think-Tank was terrified that the advanced Earthlings were after him, he cancelled the invasion of Earth and ordered his people to leave Mars and go a hundred miles away to Alpha Centuari.

After showing this film, the Historian says that one old nursery rhyme book saved humanity from a Martian invasion in the twenty-fifth century. The Martians became friends.
