Wanda’s family moved to a bigger city because they were facing a lot of ridicule in a small town. They could no longer tolerate the mockery that their daughter was subjected to by the other girls at school. The other girls would laugh at her unusual long name and her faded blue dress.
2. Maddie thought her silence was as bad as Peggy’s teasing. Was she right ?
Yes, as they say the one who tolerates a wrong doing or turns a blind to it is as bad as the one who does the wrong. So Maddie was right in thinking that her silence was as bad as Peggy’s teasing.
3. Peggy says, “I never thought she had the sense to know we were making fun of her anyway. I thought she was too dumb. And gee, look how she can draw!” What led Peggy to believe that Wanda was dumb ? Did she change her opinion later?
