- Mastercard, RBL Bank & Samsung India have announced the launch of Samsung Pay for RBL Bank’s credit card holders.
- It allows RBL Bank Mastercard credit card holders to make contactless mobile payments using their Samsung Pay-enabled phones.

Nestle India to replace Indiabulls Housing in Nifty from Sept 27
- Nestle India will replace Indiabulls Housing Finance in the Nifty 50 index from September 27.
- Indiabulls Housing’s shares fell more than 8% and hit the day’s low at ₹420.80 on NSE following the announcement, while Nestle India share price gained 3% to hit the day’s high at ₹12,890 on NSE.

- Abhishek Verma won the gold medal and Saurabh Chaudhary the bronze, in the men’s 10m air pistol event of the World Cup at Rio de Janeiro.
- Elavenil Valarivan had won gold in the women’s 10m air rifle event on the opening day.
V K Vismaya wins gold in women’s 400m held at MJS athletics, Czech Republic
- Indian sprinter VK Vismaya, aged 22, clinched gold in women’s 400m race which was held at the International Athletic Meeting – Josef Seckar Memorial (MJS) in Brno, Czech Republic.
- She finished the race in 52.12s which was her personal best.
National Urban Livelihoods Mission conferred SKOCH Governance Gold Award
- Deendayan Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), a flagship mission under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has been conferred the prestigious SKOCH Governance Gold Award for its Portal for Affordable Credit and Interest Subvention Access (PAiSA)in a function held at the Constitution Club of India.
- Launched in November 2018,PAiSAis a centralized IT platform which simplifies and streamlines release of interest subvention under the Mission.

- The International Day against Nuclear Tests (IDANT) was observed on August 29, 2019.
- The day raises awareness about the effects of nuclear weapon test explosions or any other nuclear explosions.
‘Shagun’-Integrated Online junction for School Education launched by Union HRD Minister
- On August 28, 2019, the Union Minister for Human Resource Development(MHRD) Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ launched “Shagun” which is one of the world’s largest Integrated Online Junction for school education to improve the school education system.
- It was launched in New Delhi where a booklet about Shagun was also released in the presence of Minister of State for HRD, Shri Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre.

- On August 27, 2019, Veteran Bengali actor Nimu Bhowmik, aged 84, passed away at his home in Kolkata due to cardiac arrest.
- He was born on November 14, 1935, in Dinajpur district of undivided Bengal.
