Government bans Colistin- antibiotic used in poultry industry
- The Union Health Ministry has banned colistin, which is an antibiotic used in the poultry industry for producing animals, aqua farming, etc.
- With this ban, the government cracks down on misuse of antibiotics in poultry industry as growth promoters, which is one of the key reasons for growing antibiotic resistance in the country.
- The Union health ministry issued an order that prohibits the manufacture, sale and distribution of colistin and its formulations for food producing animals, poultry, aqua farming and animal feed supplements with immediate effect.

- The Ujh and Basantar bridges were inaugurated by the defence minister in Kathua and Samba districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

India's RBI names Deputy Governor B.P. Kanungo to run monetary policy
- India’s central bank had assigned deputy governor B.P. Kanungo to run the monetary policy portfolio after the resignation of fellow deputy governor Viral Acharya.
- He would become the sixth member of the Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee.
- Acharya, who is also a professor at New York University’s Stern School of Business, left the RBI six months before the scheduled end of his term, citing personal reasons for his departure.

Adam Peaty becomes a 1st man to swim under 57 sec in the 100m breaststroke
- British competitive swimmer, Adam George Peaty(24) has broken his own world record in the men’s 100-meter breaststroke at the FINA (International Swimming Federation) World Aquatics Championships 2019 held in Gwangju, South Korea.
- Peaty became the first man to go under 57 seconds when he shattered his own world mark with a time of 56.88 in the semi-finals on Sunday.
- In the final he finished in 57.14sec, more than a second faster than James Wilby in a British one‑

Vivek Kohli elected as Commonwealth TT Federation chairman
- India’s Vivek Kohli and M.P. Singh have been elected as chairman and secretary general respectively of the Commonwealth Table Tennis Federation (CTTF).

Ehsan Mani appointed chairperson of powerful ICC committee
- Pakistan Cricket Board’s chairman Ehsan Mani has been appointed as the head of the ICC’s influential Finance & Commercial Affairs committee.

CRPF unveils country’s first body protector jointly developed by DRDO for women personnel in combat
- On July 19, 2019, India’s largest Central Armed Police Force, CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) unveiled the country’s first prototype of a body protector for women personnel.
- The “gender-specific protective gear” weighs 6 kg and has a different design and layout from the regular fibre-made black coloured body protector which is worn by both men and women police and paramilitary personnel during riot-control duties and regulation of public protests.
- Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar, DG #CRPF unveiled the ergonomic women specific protective gear for women personnel of the security Forces in the presence of Sh A.K. Singh, DG Life Sciences, Sh Bhuvnesh Kumar Director DIPAS and the team of @DRDO_India Scientists.
