3-member panel to mediate in Ayodhya dispute

  • A Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court appointed 3-member panel to mediate in Ayodhya dispute on 8 March 2019.
  • The panel consists of former Supreme Court judge F.M.I. Kalifulla as Chairman, Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, and Sriram Panchu, a senior advocate with experience in alternative dispute resolution.
  • The mediation will start in Faizabad district of Uttar Pradesh.

India launches 3rd IT corridor in China

  • India launched its third IT corridor in China that will facilitate partnerships between Indian and Chinese companies.
  • The IT corridor was developed by the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) and China’s Xuzhou city from Jiangsu Province in China.
  • The other two IT corridors are at Dalian and Guiyang cities of China.

  • The Marshall Islands government partnered with Neema, the Israel-based company, to develop the digital currency.

Indore Bags Cleanest City Award For 3rd Straight Year

  • Indore has bagged the cleanest city award for the third straight year under Swachh Survekshan, 2019.
  • President Ram Nath Kovind presented Swachh Survekhshan-2019 Awards in New Delhi. New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) area got the cleanest small city award.
  • Uttarakhand’s Gauchar was adjudged the Best Ganga Town in the survey.
  • Swachh Survekshan 2019 covered all Urban Local Bodies in the country, making it the largest such cleanliness survey in the world.

Subhash Chandra Garg Appointed as Finance Secretary

  • The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved designating Shri Subhash Chandra Garg, lAS, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance as Finance Secretary.
  • Former finance secretary Ajay Narayan Jha superannuated on February 28.
  • Garg, 58, a 1983 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre, has been working as the Secretary in Department of Economic Affairs since June 2017.

Indian Railways appoints OSD for new zone

  • The Ministry of Railway appointed SS Srinivas as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of South Coast Railway on 8 March 2019.
  • SS Srinivas, an Indian Railways Personnel Service (IRPS) officer, was working as Chief Personnel Officer (Administration), South Central Railway.
  • The South Coast Railway (SCoR) is headquartered at Visakhapatnam and comprises Guntakal, Guntur and Vijayawada divisions.

Kerala’s Marayoor Jaggery Gets Geographical Indication Tag

  • Idukki’s The Marayoor Jaggery, the traditional and handmade product from Idukki district of Kerala received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag from the Central Government.
  • The Marayoor jaggery finally managed to get the GI Tag after two years of continuous efforts by the Agricultural Department of the state.
  • The GI tag will provide more windows of opportunity to the traditional sugarcane farmers in Marayoor.

  • The Government of India has approved the establishment of two new benches of National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) for the faster disposal of cases.
  • The benches will be established at Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh and the other at Indore in Madhya Pradesh.
  • The jurisdiction of the Bench at Amaravati will be the state of Andhra Pradesh and that of Indore will be the state of Madhya Pradesh.

Govt reduces the price of 390 anti-cancer drugs upto 87 pc

  • The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority put out the list of 390 anti-cancer non-scheduled medicines with Maximum Retail Price reduction up to 87 per cent.
  • On 27th of March, the Pricing Authority had put 42 anti-cancer drugs under 30 per cent Trade Margin cap.
  • Medicine manufacturers and hospitals have been directed to convey the revised rates.
  • As many as 390 brands out of the 426 brands reported by manufacturers, showed downward price movement.
