The government has set up an eight-member Lokpal Search Committee

  • The government has set up an eight-member Lokpal Search Committee under the Chairmanship of former Supreme Court Judge, Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai.
  • A Surya Prakash (Prasar Bharati Chairman), Arundhati Bhattacharya (former SBI Chief) and Justice Sukha Ram Singh Yadav among others will be members of the panel.

NIC and NICSI have jointly set up a Centre of Excellence

 

  • National Informatics Centre (NIC) and National Informatics Centre Services Incorporated (NICSI) have jointly set up a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for data analytics to support the government.
  • The Centre of Excellence for Data Analytics (CEDA) was launched on 28th September 2018.

  • NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) has organized “Grameena Habba” at Premachandra Sagar Hall near Ashoka Pillar in Jayanagar.
  • Grameena Habba is an exhibition cum sale of rural artisan products to provide a platform for weavers, rural artisans, and craftsmen, rural entrepreneurs to display and sell their products.

  • The government launched an online platform for processing applications related to quality certification mark ‘Agmark’ for agricultural products.
  • Agmark is certification mark that assures conformity to a set of standards approved by the Directorate of Marketing and Inspection.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has inaugurated Yoga Sports Championship

  • Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has inaugurated the 8th Asian Yoga Sports Championship in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
  • The pan-Asian yoga event is being held in the country for the second time, organized by Asian Yoga Federation.

Rajni Kant Misra has been appointed as the director general of BSF

  • According to an order issued by the Personnel Ministry, Rajni Kant Misra (IPS officer- 1984-batch -UP cadre) has been appointed as the director general of the Border Security Force (BSF).
  • Misra is at present serving as the SSB chief.

  • The World Rabies Day is observed on 28th September (since-2007) across the world to raise awareness about the rabies disease and its preventable measures.
  • The day also marks the anniversary of French chemist and microbiologist Louis Pasteur’s death, who developed the first rabies vaccine.

Amitabh Kant and United Nations Resident Coordinator in India signed an agreement

  • NITI Aayog CEO, Amitabh Kant and United Nations Resident Coordinator in India, Yuri Afanasiev, signed the ‘Government of India-United Nations Sustainable Development Framework’ (UNSDF) for 2018-2022.
  • 19 UN agencies have signed on the UNSDF 2018-2022.

CSL signed an agreement with the Andaman and Nicobar administration

  • Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) signed an agreement with the Andaman and Nicobar administration to spruce up the operational efficiency of the marine dockyard in Port Blair.
  • The agreement also ensures the faster turnaround of vessels for seamless operations.

  • The Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare minister J P Nadda addressed at the ‘High-Level Meeting on Tuberculosis at the 73rd session of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York (USA).
  • By launching the TB Free India Campaign, India has shown personal commitment to tackle TB head-on as India plans to eliminate TB by 2025.
