46th edition of world’s largest IHGF-Delhi Fair in Greater Noida.
- The 46th edition of world’s largest IHGF-Delhi Fair was held at India Expo Centre and Mart, Greater Noida from October 14 to 18, 2018.
- It was inaugurated by Union Minister of State (MoS) for Textiles Ajay Tamta. It was organized by Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH). It saw participation by over 3200 exhibitors and visits of overseas buyers from over 110 countries.
Delhi Government launches Chief Minister’s Urban Leaders Fellowship Programme.
- The aim of fellowship is to provide unique opportunity to young leaders across India to work within the Delhi government to address some of the most pressing urban challenges in India.
- Delhi government has launched chief Minister’s Urban Leaders Fellowship Programme that seeks to attract young leaders across the country to work with it on addressing some of the most pressing urban challenges. It was announced by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
6th RCEP Inter-sessional Ministerial Meeting held in Singapore.
- The meeting was reviewed after 6th RCEP ministerial meeting held in August 2018. In this meeting, all partner countries agreed to finalize trading deal by the end of this year.
- From India side, Minister of State (MoS) for Commerce and Industry and consumer affairs, food and public distribution C.R. Chaudhary had attended the meeting.

- Over 108 exhibitors of silk and blended silk products manufactured in different parts of the country displayed their produce during this event.
- Over 218 buyers from various countries also participate in the fair.
Scientist from US claimed that they have developed world’s first bioelectronics medicine.
- This medicine can be implantable, biodegradable wireless device that speeds nerve regeneration and improves healing of damages nerve.
- The device has not been tested in humans, buts its successful testing on animals offer promise as future therapeutic option for nerve injury patients.

- She was selected from 47 authors who were nominated by Swedish librarians and voted on by nearly 33,000 people from around the world.

- External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has participated in the 17th Council of Heads of Government (CHG-2018) meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
- The SCO CHG meeting is a forum that enables India to engage with SCO member countries and Observer states of Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia.
First India US Special Forces exercises to be take place in 2019.
- The first India-U.S. tri-services exercise will be taking place in 2019.
- The talks are on to include the special forces of the two countries in the drill.
- The focus of the drill will be on a United Nations (UN) based scenario and the overarching mission of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief measure.
