Central Government approved to set up DSRA

  • The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved to set up the Defence Space Research Agency (DSRA), a new agency which will develop sophisticated weapon systems and technologies.
  • It will enhance the capabilities of the armed forces to fight wars in space.
  • The decision was taken at the topmost level by the government some time ago and the agency has started taking shape under a Joint Secretary-level scientist.
  • The agency would be provided with a team of scientists which would be working in close coordination with the tri-services integrated defence staff officers.

El Salvador Legislative Assembly Declares “Forests as Living Entities”

  • The Legislative Assembly of El Salvador has recognized forests as living entities on the World Environment Day (5th June 2019).
  • Its citizens will now be required to preserve forests and respect them as more than just property.
  • The pronouncement also states that each person must commit to caring for, preserving, and respecting forests, and to promoting concrete actions that expand forests in El Salvador.
