Prime Minister Launched Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana at Ranchi.
  • The Scheme will secure the lives of 5 Crore Small and Marginal Farmers by providing a minimum pension of Rs 3000 per month, to those who attain 60 years of age.

U.S. designates TTP chief Noor Wali Mehsud as global terrorist on the eve of the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks

  • On September 10, 2019, on the eve of the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, the United States (US) Department of State designated the chief of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Noor Wali Mehsud, also known as Mufti Noor Wali Mehsud, as a ‘Specially Designated Global Terrorist’ (SDGT).
  • TTP has held over 1400 terrorists attacks in Pakistan in last 12 years.

SL’s new luxury train Pulathisi Express by Indian railways ‘make in india’ product flagged off

  • On September 11, 2019 the new luxurious train of Sri Lanka(SL), Pulathisi Express which was produced under the ‘Make in India’ project of the Indian Railways was launched.
  • The president of SL Shri Maithripala Sirisena flagged off the new train from Fort railway station in Colombo to Polonnaruwa, North central province of SL.

SBI revises service charges for deposits and withdrawals from October 1, 2019

  • On September 12, 2019 the State Bank of India (SBI) has announced revision in charges of deposits and withdrawals that will be effective from October 1, 2019.
  • The new revision is applicable to cash withdrawals, non-maintenance in Average Monthly Balance(AMB) and deposits.

Australia's Megan Schutt becomes 1st woman to take two int'l hat-tricks

  • Australia fast bowler Megan Schutt has become the first woman to claim two hat-tricks in international cricket.
  • Schutt achieved the feat by dismissing West Indies’ last three players off the final three deliveries in the final ODI of the three-match series.

Indian Ambassador to UAE Navdeep Suri conferred with UAE Order of Zayed II

  • The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has honored Indian Ambassador Navdeep Singh Suri with its highest civilian honor Order of Zayed II award.
  • He has been given this honor for strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

Government appoints Sanjay Tyagi as Director General of Health Services

  • The government announced the appointment of Dr Sanjay Tyagi as Director General of Health Services (DGHS).
  • He will hold the position of DGHS till he attains 62 years of age. He is Director of GB Pant Institute.

India joins Global Antimicrobial Resistance Research and Development Hub

  • India joined the Global Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Research and Development (R&D) Hub as a new member.
  • The Global AMR R&D Hub was launched in May 2018 in the margins of the 71st session of the World Health Assembly.

BHEL commissions 1,320 MW thermal plant in Jharsuguda, Odisha

  • On September 11, 2019 Govt. of India owned state run engineering firm Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) announced commissioning of 1320 MegaWatt(MW) power project in Ib Thermal Power Station(ITPS) in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district.
  • This generated power will be supplied to Grid Corporation of Odisha(GRIDCO).

India, Russia sign deal to overhaul, modernise Delhi-class warships

  • The Union Defence Ministry signed a contract with Russia for enhancing air defence capability of Delhi class warships of Indian Navy.
  • The deal was signed for modernisation of “Air Defence Complex Kashmir and Radar Fregat MAE” on P-15 (Delhi Class) of ships.

Indo-Thailand Joint Military Exercise Maitree – 2019

  • Joint Military Exercise MAITREE-2019 between India & Thailand will be conducted at Foreign Training Node, Umroi (Meghalaya) from 16-29 Sep 2019.
  • Its scope covers company level joint training on counter terrorism operations in jungle and urban scenario.

Climate change campaigner, Tongan PM Akilisi Pohiva, aged 78, passed away

  • Tongan Prime Minister and pro-democracy advocate ‘Akilisi Pohiva has died.
  • He was 78.
  • Pohiva had been in poor health in recent years and for the past two weeks was hospitalized in a Tongan hospital with pneumonia.

J&K tops in coverage of iodised salt in the first Nutrition International’s survey 2019

  • Tamil Nadu has the lowest consumption of iodised salt despite being the third biggest producer of salt in the country, according to a first-of-its-kind national survey to measure the coverage of iodised salt.
  • The study shows that 76.3% of Indian households consumed adequately iodised salt, which is salt with at least 15 parts per million of iodine.
