India will train 1800 Bangladeshi Civil Servants at NCGG in Mussoorie
- Eighteen hundred Bangladeshi mid-career civil servants will be trained at the National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) in Mussoorie between 2019-2025.
- The first batch of 30 civil servants leaving for a two-week long training programme in Mussoorie paid a visit to the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.
- The Bangladeshi civil servants are being trained at the National Centre for Good Governance based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed in February this year in the Fifth meeting of the India-Bangladesh Joint Consultative Commission (JCC).

World’s largest burn and plastic surgery institute inaugurated in Dhaka, Bangladesh
- The world’s largest burn and plastic surgery institute in Dhaka started functioning from yesterday.
- Inaugurating the OPD of the institute yesterday Health and Family Welfare Minister of Bangladesh Zahid Maleque said about 6 lakh people suffer burn injuries in Bangladesh every year who will benefit from the institute.
- Named Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, the 500-bed hospital with 50 ICU and 12 operation theatres will provide advanced treatment to burn patients in Bangladesh.
- The institute has been built at a cost of over 500 crore Taka.

Sri Lanka inaugurated its first model village built with Indian assistance at Ranidugama in Gampaha
- A model village built with Indian assistance as part of a housing project meant for war affected people and estate workers was inaugurated in Sri Lanka, according to a media report.
- India has partnered with the ministry of housing and construction and cultural affairs to build 100 model villages consisting of a total of 2,400 houses all across Sri Lanka with Indian grant of Rs 1,200 million (USD 17.5 million).

IOC removed Kuwait suspension and allows participating in 2020 Olympics
- Kuwait has been cleared to compete in the 2020 Olympics after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced on Friday it was lifting the suspension it imposed on the Kuwait Olympic Committee (KOC) four years ago.
- The KOC had successfully implemented “a roadmap agreed between all parties”.
- The announcement comes less than a week after Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Ahmad Al Sabah was elected President of the KOC.

Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik announced his retirement from ODIs
- The 37-year-old Former Pakistan captain and all-rounder Shoaib Malik had announced his retirement from One Day International Cricket after completed his 2019 World Cup series at the Lord’s in London.
- All-rounder Malik (37) played 287 one-day internationals for Pakistan and scored 7,534 runs including nine centuries.
- The off-spinner also picked up 158 wickets in the format.

Hima Das and Muhammed Anas won gold medal at Poznan Athletics Grand Prix or 2019 Kutno Athletics Meet in Poland
- Star Indian sprinter Hima Das won her second international gold in women’s 200m with a top finish at the Kutno Athletics Meet in Poland.
- Hima, who has been struggling with a back problem for the past few months, clocked 23.97 seconds to clinch the gold while VK Vismaya bagged the silver in 24.06.
- National record holder Muhammed Anas also won the gold in men’s 200m race with a time of 21.18 seconds.

Brazil beats Peru in the final to lift the Copa America 2019 title
- Brazil have defeated Peru 3-1 to win their first Copa America title since 2007.

Indian Army plans to buy American howitzer ammo for long-range accurate strikes
- The Indian Army will buy the Excalibur artillery ammunition from the US (United States) under the emergency procurement procedures.
- It can strike targets more than 50 km away with the use of the GPS (Global Positioning System).
- It can be busted in the air and after its penetration into bunker-type structures by using its different fuses.

New gene linked to schizophrenia discovered by Indian and Australian scientists
- After 18 years of research, Indian and Australian scientists have identified a new gene directly linked to schizophrenia.
- Scientists from the University of Queensland in Australia and a team of Indian researchers searched the genomes of over 3,000 individuals and found those with schizophrenia were more likely to have a particular genetic variation.
- The team of Indian researchers was led by R. Thara, co-founder and director of the Chennai-based Schizophrenia Research Foundation.

Operation Sudarshan launched by BSF to fortify the anti-infiltration grid along Pakistan border
- The operation, code named ‘Sudarshan’ was launched by the Border Security Force (BSF) to fortify Anti-Infiltration Grid along the Pakistan border in Punjab and Jammu.
- The massive exercise commenced on July 1, 2019.
- While Jammu shares about 485-kms of the sensitive IB with Pakistan, about 553-kms of the front is in Punjab .
