Nirmala will attend G20 meeting in Japan

• Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will attend the two-day meeting of the Finance Ministers of G-20 and the central bank governors, scheduled to be held in Japan on June 8-9, 2019.
• This is the first foreign visit of Sitharaman as finance minister. Its main purpose is to focus on the risks and challenges of foreign trade and investment in the infrastructure, which is done by our country.

Prime Minister Modi to visit Maldives

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to the Maldives, which starts from June 8, 2019. This journey reflects the new movement in high-level exchanges between India and Maldives.
• The visit of Maldives and Sri Lanka will display India’s priority with its Neighborhood-First Policy and SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region).

India deals 300 crore for buying bombs

• Indian Air Force signed an agreement with Israel for a sum of 300 crores for the purchase of about 100 Spice-2000 bombs.
• These bombs were used during the 26/11 attacks in Balakot, Pakistan. According to the report, these bombs will be transported to the Air Force in the next three months.
• This is allegedly the first defense deal launched by the new government.

MoU signed between Ministry of Corporate Affairs & SEBI

• A formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) and Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for data exchange between two regulatory organizations and to tighten regulatory oversight.
• The MoU was signed by Shri K.V.R. Murty, Joint Secretary (MCA) and Smt. Madhabi Puri Buch, Whole Time Member of SEBI in presence of senior officers from both organisations.
• Need: As private sector plays an increasingly vital role in economic growth of India, thus need of the hour is a robust Corporate Governance mechanism for transparent functioning.

RBI removes payment fees for NEFT, RTGS

• RBI has removed the fee charged by the NEFT and RTGS. This means that now the payment made through NEFT and RTGS will be free or the charges will be low.
• The RBI charges minimum fees from banks for transactions through its Real Time Gross Settlement System (RTGS), which means the National Electronic Fund Transfer System for the transfer of instant funds transfer and other funds for large funds.

RBI Monetary Policy review: Repo rate lowest since 2010

• The Reserve bank of India (RBI) in its bi-monthly monetary policy review reduced repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.75% from current 6.0% with immediate effect. This is RBI’s third cut this year and has reduced Repo rate at lowest since 2010.
• With Repo Rate adjusted to 5.75%, consequently Reverse Repo Rate under Liquid Adjustment Facility (LAF) stands adjusted to 5.5% and Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate to 6.0%.
• Other revised Rates- Cash reserve ratio (CRR) unchanged at 4%; Retail inflation forecast raised marginally to 3% -3.1% for first half (H1) of 2019-20) and 3.4% -3.7% for second half (H2).
