The MSME Ministry has approved a proposal by KVIC
- The MSME Ministry has approved a proposal by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) to increase the wages of Khadi spinners by over 36%.
- With this, the wages of artisans will stand increased from Rs 5.50 per hank previously to Rs 7.50 per hank.
Dr Arif Alvi elected as 13th President of Pakistan
- Dr Arif Alvi, one of the founding members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, was on September 4, 2018 elected as 13th President of the country.
- Alvi will take oath of the office on September 9, 2018 as incumbent President Mamnoon Hussain’s five-year tenure ends on September 8, 2018.

- Minister for Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu launched Coffee Connect – India coffee field force app and Coffee KrishiTharanga – digital mobile extension services for coffee stakeholders at a function in New Delhi.
- The mobile app Coffee Connect has been developed to ease the work of field functionaries and to improve the work efficiency.

- India will host the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Masters, one of the most prestigious basketball tournaments in the world, in Hyderabad from September 22, 2018.
- Hyderabad Masters is the seventh stage of the FIBA 3×3 World Tour and is the first time an international 3×3 basketball tournament is being played in India.

- Indian shooter Om Prakash Mitharwal picked up his maiden gold medal at the ISSF World Championships, claiming the top honours in the 50m pistol event in Changwon on September 4, 2018.
- The 23-year-old, a bronze-winner in the 10m air pistol and the 50m pistol events of the Commonwealth Games 2018 in Gold Coast, shot a score of 564 to finish on top.
3 government schools has been selected for SVP
- The Government of India has selected 3 government schools of Haryana for the ‘Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar’ (SVP) for the year 2017-18.
- The SVP was instituted in 2016-17 by the Union government to recognise, inspire and celebrate excellence in water, sanitation and hygiene practices in government elementary and secondary schools.

- Butola was commissioned in the Helicopter stream of Indian Air Force in June 1982.

- Indo-Kazakhstan Joint Army Exercise ‘KAZIND’ will be conducted between the Indian and Kazakhstan Army from 10 to 23 September 2018 in Otar region, Kazakhstan.
- This is the third joint military exercise between the two countries which have a history of extensive cooperation in the defence arena. The second edition of the exercise was held in India in 2017.
