Govt sanctioned project for development of Tirthankar Circuit covering sites associated with Jainism under Swadesh Darshan scheme
- Government has sanctioned Rs.52.39 crores for the project development of Vaishali, Arrah, Masad, Patna, Rajgir, Pawapuri, Champapuri in Bihar under the Tirthankar Circuit theme of Swadesh Darshan Scheme in the year 2016-17.

- The Rajya Sabha on July 31 passed a Bill to tighten road traffic regulations and imposed stricter penalties for violations in an attempt to improve road safety.
- The Upper House passed the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2019, with 108 votes in favour and 13 against it, with three amendments moved by Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari.

US slaps sanctions against Iranian minister
- In an unprecedented move, the US on July 31 slapped sanctions against Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif on the grounds that he acted or purported to act for or on behalf of, directly or indirectly, the Iranian Supreme Leader.
- “This action represents another step towards denying the Iranian regime the resources to enable terror and oppress the Iranian people,” said US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

UAE to launch spacecraft to Mars in 2020
- The UAE has announced that it will launch the Hope Probe, the Arab world’s first spacecraft to Mars, in July 2020.
- The space programme, also known as the Emirates Mars Mission (EMM), aims at collecting information on Mars, meteorological layers and study the causes of loss of hydrogen and oxygen gases – the two main constituents of water – from the upper layer of the Martian atmosphere.

US finalizes $670 million foreign military sales to support India’s C-17 aircraft
- On July 26, 2019, The United States (US) approved foreign military sales worth $670 million to support India’s C-17 military transport aircraft in order to enhance operational readiness and ability to provide Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HA/DR) assistance in the Indo-Pacific region.
- The proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to strengthen the US-Indian strategic relationship and to improve the mobility capabilities of a major defensive partner.
